Day 27: Signs of summer

"I want you to begin keeping a calendar of who you see and when: the first day each year you see buttercups, the first day frogs start singing, the last day you see robins in the fall, the first day for grasshoppers. In short, I want you to pay attention" - Derrick Jensen

Project 365: # 27

This is pretty much what I am aiming to do with Project 365 - pay attention daily to little things all around me. It is making me think more, and explore more, and notice the cycle of life, and how fast time goes! Today was the first day I saw our frogs in the pond...I don't think that I have been very observant, as they are already quite big!

The first flowers in the grass, even though they just pop up anywhere, they are still beautiful. With the flowers, come the insects. You can here the soft humming of bees all around as they busily collect pollen. In between all the bird song - the birds have really come to life, there is even one that sounds like a video game!

The trees in the forest, covered in ivy, with leaves just about to burst open. By this time next week, they will be covered in new leaves that are almost luminous until they fade into summer. Summer is definitely on the breeze, even the smell of the air has changed from spring to summer, with the scent of jasmine wafting around every now and again. Summer seems less rushed than spring, the frenetic rush of spring seems to be slowing down and easing into summer with longer days and shorter nights. Time to enjoy each moment of life, and not wish for time to fly!
