“I like the silent church before the service begins, better than any preaching” - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance and Other Essays
Project 365: Day 55
When walking around Hannover, it is likely that you will come across at least one church in a day, but probably a few more. I find them truly amazing, as they were built in the days preceding technology, and are all architecturally beautiful and intricate. I am always overwhelmed when I enter a church by complete peace, no matter what denomination. I find it amazing that all churches smell the same, and the smell invokes memories of family, security, and inner comfort for me, and fills me with a deep sense of joy. I love the silence of churches, where you can drop all pretenses, and truly reflect on the amazing grace we have been granted.
