'It's so easy for me to get caught up in the feeling of a city like Venice, where everything is just beautiful colour and gorgeous buildings that are so peaceful. You can roam around and get lost in the labyrinth" -Nanette Lepore
Project 365: #21
I have had a busy day, with not much time for anything. I did have an awesome lunch date with friends, in between working, working, working. Lunch with friends made me reflect on the privilege of being here, which I need to do, as most of the time I did NOT think it was a privilege! My friends are from Indonesia and the Czech Republic, brought together by our children needing a common language for school. It's amazing to get together and glimpse into the lives of others and understand their different cultures and perspectives. It certainly opens the mind, and also makes me realise my blessings and opportunities. It also somehow slightly eases the guilt of being a South African expat, as all countries have their issues, and we are all just wanting the best for our families.
While we have been here we have also had the chance to travel, and tick off some of the bucket list. One of my favourites was Venice, although the weather was terrible. It was still one of the most beautiful and architecturally amazing places I have been, you can just feel the history everywhere! The photos don't do it justice - but are a glimpse into memories!
