"Prom has all the elements of a popular story. It reeks of all-Americanness, tension, drama. It has romance. Pretty dresses. Dancing. Limos. High school. Coming of age." - Adora Svitak
Project 365: #331
Nothing could be more American than Prom! All the drama leading up to it..beginning with promposals, and finding the perfect dress, how to wear the hair, nails, and makeup. Who will be sitting with who. Where the Pre-Prom party will be. Luckily we were consumed by exams in the run up to Prom, so we didn't have much time to think about anything, with the final high school exam ever written on the day! What a rush to get ready....but Caitlin managed, looking cool and calm when arriving at the Pre-prom party to greet her date and friends. The highlight of this event was the arrival of the beloved girls Track coach, who showed his dedication to the girls by being part of their evening! What an inspiration, and the start of an amazing night for them! This marks the end of an era, the end of endless school lunches, the end of fetching and carrying, the end of early morning rushes out the door, it seems that Grade 1 was just yesterday. This marks the coming of age, which I am not sure any parent is really ready for, but always knows it is going to happen. It comes at just the right time, when they are ready to stretch their wings and fly. School has provided them with the knowledge of learning, and youth has given them the confidence they need to fly.
